Five members of the OHS Rotary Interact Club and two OHS teachers and Rotarians are planning to participate in an international service project in two impoverished areas. They will deliver and assemble water filters, teach proper handwashing to children, build and paint latrines, deliver health and safety products, and help remove trash from blighted areas. Seniors Leilah Kard, Axel Raybourn, and Aidan Taylor, Sophomore Kyden Ehle, and Freshman Ashton Ehle will be traveling with the Interact Club’s Faculty Advisor Brianne Becker and International Specialist and OHS Spanish teacher, Etna Romo. They will be part of a group of 16 students and 8 adults from Rotary Interact clubs in eastern Michigan.
A huge Rotary thank you to the members and Interact students that braved the cold and wind yesterday to come out and decorate the Pocket Park. The picture captured some of the volunteers, the entire troop included Gerald Y, Scott M, Bernie S, Cathy W. Brianne B, Kristy B, Jim R, President Pam, and Interact members, Abby M, Emma H, Jack L, Phillip, and Emma L. We finished up in just over an hour and it looks great!! The special effect can really be noticed at night with it is all lit up.
Rotary has always supported the Wurtsmith Air Museum by hosting the associated pancake breakfast offering free breakfast to the pilots flying in and open to the public to enjoy the breakfast with seeing all the planes that fly in. Rotary donates $1 from every breakfast to the air museum. The weather was nearly perfect for Saturday which brought our adult breakfast count to 133 with 23 planes coming in and serving 15 pilots.
